The prose was amazing, but the story was slow in places and it was complicated enough that you couldn't put it down for too long or you wouldn't know what was going on. I'd recommend reading The Crying of Lot 49 if you want to try pynchon and then reading V. if you want something longer with the same prose style and a slightly worse story.
At the beginning of this book, I was totally captivated and the writing was fantastic. However, about 100 pages in, I started to lose interest as the plot became more predictable and the characters seemed to stop developing in general, and just began "existing". Overall, the story is interesting (and somewhat creepy), buy somewhere, the depth got lost. All in all, it was a very fun and easy read, but in the end I'm taking nothing away from it.
