I am a huge nerd for research studies and statistics, sometimes to the point that I forget to be critical. I'm sure there have been dissenting books, or contradictory studies, but at face value I thought the book was a great dip into some thoughts on childhood development (and therefore, adult behavior), challenging people to think through preconceptions about how to raise good kids. I found it pretty timely, if for no other reason than that I read the race chapter as the Trayvon Martin case exploded, and had just had a conversation with a bunch of folks about how you break the news to your kids that American culture doesn't know how to deal with brown people.
