3.5 stars. An American classic - no surprise it reminded me of Mad Men since that was the time period it was written in, but so sad - not hopeful - and the ending came as a shock to me.

Tore through this one in about three days. I'd been reading the column in the Morning News and was pretty jazzed to find a remaindered paperback copy.
