This book is really just a journal of the author's experiences with the Farallone Islands off the coast of San Francisco. It focuses on the large population of ENORMOUS great whites that congregate here every Fall and the researchers who observe them. There really isn't a plot to follow and it can be dense in parts, but I enjoyed the scientific details about shark behavior and the geography/ecology/history of the islands themselves.
