This was an excellent book. It is based on the life of Huey Long of Louisiana and won a pulitzer prize. It was interesting from an historical point of view but it also was about power, politics, good and evil. It explores the question of when do the means justify the ends. If you've never read this I highly recommend it.

Sometimes when I watch the SciFi channel or Stargate or Atlantis or Farscape (not that I like, you know, watch those shows regularly or anything) but sometimes when they inexplicably appear on my television, I notice how their plots and activities are similar to Butler's novels. She's so creative.
