I really did like this book. It's very entertaining and heartbreaking as well. It's not as much about music as I had expected. Rather than being the main focus of the book, it's the undercurrent...it ties everything together. It brought him and his wife together, and it got him through some of his most difficult times. This book really succeeded at what it set out to do, which it to present a book memorializing his wife who has passed away. It shows Sheffield dealing with grief elegantly and in a very human, sincere way. Compare with "Ghost Rider" by Neil Peart; "Love is a Mix Tape" is everything a memoir about grief should be. Peart's is not. The most poignant aspect of the book is Sheffield's discussion of how kind people can be. The most tangential part of the book is his inexplicably-included chapter about Jackie O.
