A challenging book to be sure. It took me several attempts to actually get through it (granted, I was 10 years old at the time and didn't actually finish it until I was 15 or so). Once I got into it, I was transfixed by Tolkien's genius. The mythologies are so beautiful and rich. A must read for LOTR fans in order to get the complete picture of Middle Earth.
