I love that the author, who is a foodie but not a food critic, approches this as a character piece about people who make food. In addition to the portrait he paints of Mario Batali, he also offers a terrific commentary on the folks that shaped Batali's career. There's also some great research into the origins of Italian cuisine. Super fun read and I'm definitely booking a table at Babbo next time I'm in NYC!
