I found this hard to get into mostly because the characters were all so unlikable. that didn't really change, but it became less important than that they all felt like real people. I'm not sure I liked the narration- omniscient with no real pattern for switching character pov & a slightly Dan brown-esque tendency to switch away from a character or scene to avoid giving away key info. still, the scenarios felt true & the mystery & politics compelling. while I didn't like the characters, I cared what happened to them and felt as though the ultimate outcomes were realistic without being trite or easy.
