** spoiler alert ** As much as I appreciate any book that has historians as a major character, the silliness of the plot is more than I could suffer. Didn't the author stop to realize that the bad guy had the heroes right were he wanted them back in the middle of the story and could have disposed of them then and there? Instead, he helped them along so they could go through the second half of the novel where he would have to foil them later. I'm still trying to figure out how a crippled historian on walking braces could hold a gun on two other characters, unless he had three arms. At least somebody with three arms is more plausible than this book's misappropriation of Roman history and the Knights Templar. Indeed, the worst thing THE DA VINCI CODE has foisted upon the world is a zillion silly books about the Knights Templar, a medieval fighting force best known for banking that was destroyed when its wealth became inconvenient to a powerful French king.
