I love all of Beverly Cleary's young adult books, but this is my favorite. This story mirrors some of the author's own experiences leaving Oregon to go to California for school. The main character leaves her loving/smothering mom behind and has to learn how to make her own decisions. The ending is beautiful and bittersweet. An great book by an amazing author.
