You could swoon for the beautiful prose! I felt from the first pages that I was going to LOVE this book. I read several descriptions more than once, just to admire the insightful wording (cardinal virtues, being a confidante). ... In the end I did not love it. Adultery is too vexing of a topic and debauchery was really the central theme.
