Interesting read. Good to get his perspective on events such as 9/11 and the financial crisis.
This book teaches the lesson that friends come in all shapes and sizes,so to speak. Despite the fact that friends might not see each other alot - friendships last forever This book is about the unlikely friendship between a boy,Sasha, and a Wolf, Ferdy. Sasha is always being warned about the danger of wolves, especially hungry wolves. One day Sasha convinces his father to let him drive the sleigh on his own. His father agrees - once around the village and straight back home. While out in the sleigh the wind in his face Sasha forgot all about his father and drove on and on further into the wilderness. The sleigh hits something and Sasha is thrown from it. Sasha finds himself alone in the snow. He sees a hut and decides to go there to keep warm until someone comes to find him. On entering the hut he realises he is not alone. Ferdy the wolfcub wandered from his pack and also got lost. Despite what the two have been thought they become friends. Both know that they cannot tell their families about their friendship. Time went by and Sasha wondered if he would ever see Ferdy again. One day in spring the village held a dance. Ferdy shows up and insists Sasha teach him how to dance. Sasha thinks it is too dangerous but Ferdy assures him that the village people are too busy having fun to notice a wolf. Winter comes and goes as does another Sasha had almost forgotten about Ferdy. Sasha proves to Ferdy that he wouldn't hurt him by throwing down his gun and walking away from it. Ferdy sits in amazement. Sasha promises to put out food for Ferdy and his pack every night while there is snow. Sashas father gets lost in the snow - Sasha goes to find him and sees smoke coming from the hut he met Ferdy in as a child. Ferdy found Sasha father and brought him to safety. When Sashas father gets better be remembers a wolf dragging him to the hut. The other village men laugh. Sasha tries to explain to his father that it was his friend Ferdy the wolf that saved him but his father doesn't belive him. In an effort to prove this to his father Sasha suggests when his father is recovered and the snow is gone that the village hold a dance. The night of the dance Sasha brings his father up the hill and before his very eyes he sees Ferdy leaping and twirling in his boots. Ivan, Sashas father, realises that all this time he was wrong for hating wolves. Ferdy and Sasha form a lasting friendship and prove to both their families that wolves and humans 'can' live together, without fear nd with fun.
