There were elements of this book that I really enjoyed, although I can't say I completely understood the plot. Lethem always includes fantastical elements in his books, but in this case I wasn't sure if they were part of the reality of the characters or more metaphorical. I'm not sure what the NY Times hated so much about the book, I plan to read their review now that I am done. I would rate this book after Motherless Brooklyn and Fortress of Solitude, but better than You Don't Love Me Yet.

Not my favorite, but it wasn't awful. I saw the movie first, so I already knew the major events that were going to happen.
