I enjoyed this book much more than I expected to. I don't normally read memoir types of books, but Shirley was coming in to speak to our group. This book was fantastic! There were so many childhood references that I could relate to, it felt like I knew her before I actually met her. No, I didn't grow up in the south, but that didn't matter, because the emotion was so poignant and I related to that. And her characters were appealing- favorite girlfriends, crazy relatives. Loved it, just loved it!

good not great but still creative story
