If you like this one, the closest Pynchon ever comes to writing in this style again is his latest Against the Day. Like anyone else will tell you, this is a difficult book to tackle. I read it back in high school, trying to prove to myself that I could handle such a book. Anybody who tells you that they understood every one of Pynchon's references is a liar. I walked away, understanding about half of what was written. But what I could comprehend was amazing. I do agree with another reviewer's response in that a large part of the book is filler with pop culture references that serve know important narrative purpose. Yes, Pynchon probably thinks he is a pretty smart guy. But give him credit, he isn't as bad as David Foster Wallace.
