Though I had a hard time getting into this book, I found it to be quite entertaining once I was engaged. Delaney does a super job of fictionally describing the high points in Irish history by weaving the traditional Irish stories of history (Newgrange, Strongbow, Brian Boru, Finn McCool) under one plot - a mysterious, traveling Irish storyteller pursued for years by a boy who is mesmerized by his amazing stories. There are strong subplots and a twist at the end. This would be a great read for anyone interested in Ireland or travel to Ireland because Delaney covers so much of the history and really demonstrates the Irish people's fascination with stories and story-tellers. I also appreciate Delaney's command of language.
