I can't say I loved this book. It's more like summer reading material than my usual picks. Mind you, the subject matter certainly wasn't light. It's the only thing that compelled me to finish the story. The style, however, wasn't very inspiring. The main character's personality was fleshed out nicely. Unfortunately, her mom and new friend were shadows by comparison, and all of the others were just plain flat. (I am speaking of the characters, not the scenario/setting. Big difference.) That said, if you're planning a drive through the southwestern states of the US, this would be a welcome companion.
