I consider this to be among the best SF novels of the 1980s. The protagonists and the antagonists are both complex characters, and the plot is not a simple struggle of the good against the evil - maybe that's why this book isn't as popular as I think it should be.

I thought the first two books were excellent. I think my favorite was the second book in the series. This book started off very intense and exciting but died a little bit in the end in my eyes. I thought the final 4 or 5 chapters seemed rushed by the author and the story was a little too choppy, however Suzanne did a good job in wrapping up the finish and I still enjoyed the book.
