OK, I struggled through the first half of this book. That old English style of writing just gets to me, and it was feeling like a long, tedious homework assignment. And I was HATING it. A couple times I felt like throwing the book across the room, but I was reading it on my Nook so I couldn't do that. Then it started getting good, I started getting into the rhythm of that overly wordy language, somehow, and if you really concentrate, there's actually some humor lying under all those fancy words. In the end, I'm glad I stuck with it. Basically, once you get to the part where the two women almost get gored by a bull in the middle of this little English town of Casterbridge (WHAT???), you're golden. This thing had more plot twists than Knots Landing or Dallas.
