i'm finding this book rather painfully dull. part II picks up a little, but i find the pacing off and the descriptions lack luster. apparently, i'm not one for fictionalized scottish memoirs?
This is beautiful stuff. I bought it just because it's a part of a complete library, but pretension aside, I liked it a whole bunch.
This book is slow, but give it time. It's a surprisingly deceptive and powerful novel.
