Even though I was growing up during some of this, it is a little scary to think how the civil rights movement took so long to take hold. Even scarier to realize that struggles that still go on. Excellent book.

Continuing my Jane Austen theme: this book gets better everytime I read it. It's quickly becoming my favorite of Austen's novels, although Pride and Prejudice is still a sentimental favorite in many ways. This book is so subtle and delicately done - it's absolutely gorgeous.
