Still reading through it, although now it has become more of a reference book, rather than a "read all the way through" book for me. It covers a wide range of gardening topics, in short easy to understand chunks of information. It is by far more thorough than the other two books I've recently picked up, and it's been a great help getting the garden prepped and ready for seeding.

This book is from the Heartsong Presents historical series, sweet historical romances in various settings with an inspirational theme. This particular book is set in Rome and Britain in 64 AD, and continues the story of Decimus, one of the main characters from a previous book by the author, "The Eagle and the Lamb." It's been five years since Decimus was freed from slavery, and he has made his way from Ephesus to Rome. He still searches for a way to leave Rome, which is dangerous for Christians such as himself, and make his way to Britannia to see if his family survived the attack 12 years ago when he was captured, made a slave, and sent to Rome. One day in the city, he comes across a slave auction where a young woman is being sold. For some strange reason, he is desperate to save her from her fate, and uses the money his former master gave him to buy her. The young woman, Chara, is also a Christian, and so Decimus brings her along as he meets a man who can help him leave Rome and return to his homeland. They arrange to go to Britannia as slaves of Galla, a Roman centurion who has converted to Christianity. To protect Chara from unwanted attention, Galla convinces Decimus to marry her. Chara always longed to marry for love but goes along with the plan because Galla convinces her that Decimus will come to love her. The journey to Britannia is long and dangerous with storms and a pirate attack but along the way Chara and Decimus begin to fall in love, but neither knows the other's feelings. They arrive in Britannia and now must contend with harsh winter weather as Decimus searches for his tribe and family. This is a good historical romance and I really enjoyed the setting in ancient Rome and Britain, which is a unique setting in historical romances. The love story between the two main characters was very sweet and believable, and I learned some interesting historical facts from the book as well.
