Punch me straight in the face for reading (listening) this book! Many times have I tried to read it, and I never got far, but I love the movie with Winona Ryder, and I thought "well hey, if you love the movie, you'll be bound to love the book too!" No, no, no, no. So much sermonizing, and talk about killing Jo in the end. I mean you might as well have stuck a knife through her heart! ugh! I hate this book! Oh Laurie, I also hate Amy! Why Amy?! You should've married Jo, put her over your shoulder and dragged her to the alter kicking and screaming, and fought everyday if it came down to it, but you would've suited! Ugh! Poor Jo. Poor Laurie, for having to live the rest of his life with awful Amy! I skimmed the end of this book, because I knew what happened... from the movie, and I can't understand how this is an enduring classic. Let it be forgotten.

Not a bad entry into the "cash in on the Hunger Games" genres. A nuanced and atypical female protagonist. A clever dystopian concept. Nice narrative drive. I enjoyed the journey and the read.
