Nothing like the movie, and significantly better.

Way better than I anticipated. He is willing to put it out there -- the unflattering and the flattering.

Another riff on the Twelve Dancing Princesses (this seems to be the latest thing!) with a dash of Persephone and Beauty and the Beast thrown in for good measure. Reveka, an apprentice herbalist, longs to break the curse of the twelve princesses who disappear each night and return every morning worn out and with holes in their shoes. Her plan is to use the reward money to buy her way into a convent and set herself up as an herbalist in her own right. The set-up is a little slow but, once Reveka follows the princesses into the Underworld and encounters Lord Dragos, a humanoid dragon called a zmeu, readers are in for quite a ride. And unlike many books these days that are written with a sequel in mind, this one doesn't have a cliffhanger ending. The main plot points are wrapped up neatly, Reveka and Lord Dragos will definitely be back!
