Excecpt for the first couple of chapters, where the author just rambles on about parts of his past that have no bearing whatsoever on the main part of the book, and the last couple of chapters, which kind of peter off into rumination about his job, this book kicks a lot of ass. There's a kind of mean, but kind of funny thing he says about why he and his wife got divorced, saying that when he'd been living inside the minds of criminals all day long, it wasn't very stimulating to talk about where to put the trash or wonder about what color the neighbors were going to paint their fence. Anyway, the main part of the book is just his recollections of seriously fucked up dudes and the process of catching them by being smarter than them, and it seems like serial killers usually have a pretty limited brain capacity.
