I liked this installment better than the first. Like I mentioned in my original review, I believe that Patterson takes the Harry Potter world and turns it on edge a bit, building upon it. HP-obsessed fans may not like this idea. I think that is closed minded of them. After all, how many of our favorite books AREN'T inspired by classics, culture and other plot lines--especially in YA literature(Austen, anyone?). But that is a rant for another time). I think if it is cast off in such a manner that readers are missing out. Sure I wasn't over the moon about this book, but it definately wasn't atrocious. I thought this part of the plot was paced better, perhaps that was due to more pivitol events and more of Whit's narration. The humor element is there for sure. While some questions were answered, or closer to being tied up, others were presented in a manner normal for books in series. I'll read the next one to see what happens because even if at times the characters are a little flat, the plot is original and their personalities are loveable.
