To read: I picked this up because it was being pushed as one of those "if you liked Da Vinci Code, you might enjoy..." books. (Before I realized that much of that was crap.) Still, I'll read it someday.
سأعود لأحرر نصا حول هذا الكتاب :)
I really liked this book - for many reasons. There is SO much in here of Americana that has gone unknown for some reason or other but should not have. And Larson's book is extremely well put together to infuse the exciting historical triumphs and tribulations with chilling fear and foreboding...even though we know what is about to happen. Without giving away too much - just the amount of American culture, inventions and more - that were invented for or inspired by this monumental national "fair" is astounding and make it an extremely enlightening and enjoyable read. This should be on a must-read list for any student of American History, Architecture, or even criminal investigators... not to mention for those of us who just love the amazing mixed with the macabre.
