Wow. This book was amazing, so much more than I thought it would be. I found myself sickened by unwinding and storking. Absolutely disgusted. If you have read The Handmaid's Tale, there are a couple parallels; the biggest being that it's about a futuristic society on the edge of being believable. You just aren't quite sure how far humanity will go, hoping it's not too far, but then again, you can totally see that happening. Scary, for both books! Unwind is like 2 stories in one, each could almost be independent of the other, but then everything is wrapped up together in the end. It builds slowly into a crescendo and just when you think you are done, you realize there is so much more to the story (in a good way). It definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat, biting your nails until you turn the page and can relax a little. Then it cycles those same emotions over and over and over again. And when you finished, you realize you can actually breathe because you've been holding your breath for so long. I am not sure if there will be a sequel to this book or not. It can definitely stand on it's own and it might be better that way. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a train-wreck, life or death adventure. You will be heartbroken, disgusted, terrified, and cheering them on.
