Fascinating book that speaks to the time period - the mid 1920s. According to the author she fed into Hemingway's ego to the point where I believe she lost her own identity. And interestingly, his book, The Moveable Feast, solely focused on himself. I have not read much of Hemingway and having read this novel, I am not sure if I ever will. I found this egoism difficult to accept. McLain described the characters well and her emotions throughout the meeting, courtship and marriage to Hemingway. Others were shown to be very eccentric. Reading the book was similar to reading abstract art.
