Spoiler alert: This book ends kind of sadly. Other than that this book made me reevaluate my commit me to living my religion and not just going through the motions. It also describes the impact of an exclusive, small community on someone who does not fit into their edxpectations of the "norm."

a very clever book. I liked it sooooo much that I'm going to read all the series which is; The Queen of Attolia, The King of Attolia and A Conspiracy of Kings.

This book was really fun to read, but also gave a fairly good account of Michelangelo's life and the amazing times in which he lived. I really enjoyed the descriptions of different Italian cities during the Renaissance, and all the references to other important people of that era. It is an especially engaging read if you have ever been to Florence or Rome, where most of the novel takes place. The writing is best when the author sticks to historical information and doesn't try to create too much of his own drama. The accounts of each sculpture's creation are particularly fun!
