Pope's sloppy, dirty illustrations really work for a Batman book. Too bad his story doesn't. Pope plays around with the Batman mythos (he references the Batman of the 1940s, Frank Miller's run, etc) but it's all empty chatter. The narrative is basically a conspiracy story that makes little sense. It's actually pretty dull.
