I will start by saying that I would not usually pick this type of book. The story itself was quite good but it was more a family story than one that should be shared - I personally don't think that the dog did anything particularly outstanding, although she was clearly a clever dog. Also, I think that the narrator was very pompus and arrogant. I believe that the way he wrote conversations was not how people really speak, it didn't flow. Additionally, he seemed to try to include as many poetic references as possible, as though he was trying too hard to impress the reader.
