This historiacl fiction piece appealed to me becasue it is about the first female famous painter from Florence, Italy during the Renaissance. Since I am going to Italy this summer, I thought this would put me in the artsy mood and educate me at the same time. I really enjoyed the story of Artemisia Gentileschi and her struggle into the all male world of painters of this time period. Her struggle with balancing family and motherhood are still issues we face today centuries later.
