Interesting perspective of law enforcement in New York City, especially since the author discusses not only his personal involvement in NYPD, but also the experiences of his family members and the stories of other influential members. It's pretty hefty and I'm halfway through, but it's never boring.

Various selections from this collection of short stories formed the basis for the classic film, A Christmas Story. If you loved the movie, you're sure to love the book by Jean Shepherd (who also narrated the film).
