Absolutely brilliant. The caliber of Tolkien's writing is the goal we set for fantasy writer's to strive for.
Pearson's 22nd-century Frankenstein tale is poignant, fully rendered, and achingly beautiful. I was particularly struck by the way she marked Jenna's character development through her narration, with her vocabulary and understanding evolving from the first page until the final sentence. This book is everything science fiction is supposed to be: a tale about the future that sparks reflection on today, a completely realized world both foreign and familiar, and a deeply moving story. One interesting facet that makes The Adoration of Jenna Fox so relevant is its contemplation on government-run healthcare, written before the issue became such a hot-button topic. Pearson has created a story to stimulate the heart, the mind, and everything in between.
