I love Nora Roberts, and I like the supernatural themes of her recent books. But I could not get into this one, and I didn't even finish the trilogy. It bored me.
one of my all time favorite books. this dystopian future is as fascinating as it is terrifying. I really enjoyed it as an alternate history enthusiasist; it is his best work.
An author new to me. I like his quirky descriptive, often metaphorical language: An angel flitted through the room; A bolt of electricity darted into the night every time the door opened; Three black girls stood in a corner waiting for something to happen; Cars swished by...." Dark, detailed, a page turner. I will read more of his writing. Main character: Erik Winter.
Enjoyed my intro to steampunk. I listened to the book read by Alan Cumming and he made it even better.
This was one of the more straightforward Vonnegut books. Kind of along the lines of Jailbird. I love his more reality-bending novels, but ones like these prove that the strength of his novels is found in the characters and storytelling.
I'm listening to this, just saw movie "Mississippi Mermaid" with Jean Paul Belmondo and Catherine Denaveaux-same premise a correspondence bride that who is not exactly she said she was - loved the movie What I expected, but not what I expected - a good story. The inside story is about the desolation of a long winter (long deprivation of human contact) and what it does to people
Cute, quirky, and fun.
