I read this book last year for my coming of age novel and at first I hated it. This is the type of book where it is not just about the writing. You need to fully understand the story before you can really like the book. When I just read the book I thought that it was good, but I didn't really get it. After my mom explained it to me, and I watched the movie, I really understood what it meant and I liked it a lot more. The book is about a little girl named Scout but it is actually about more. It is about class and race and courage. It is a very touching book that I recommend for anyone in 8th grade or up.
