the book was pretty well written, but the plot seemed very self-absorbed and, at times, quite boring. perhaps i would have enjoyed it more if i were more into theater, bisexuality or vanity.

I learned so much about the dust bowl and also learned a lot from the individual stories of survival during this horrible time. I learned about perseverance and tenacity...those settlers were so determined to stay and prosper in an inhospitable place and time.
