I only read this a few months ago and I barely remember it. Not worth it.

This book was probably marketed as similar to "Devil in the White City," but it wasn't nearly as intriguing. The author meandered along to the point I thought I wouldn't make it through to the end of the book. I did make it to the end, but I thought if the focus were more on Rogers it would have been much more interesting. Focusing the book around the Morro Castle disaster made for far too many dull passages that made the story fall apart for me.

Normally I really try to finish a book once I've started it, but I decided I had too many on my "to read" list to spend any more time on this one. I got as far as the end of Chapter 3 (p 35) and quit. Time Out New York describes Dahlia Finger as an "unforgettable anti-hero" with "depressive humor". Depressive is right. Those 35 pages of rambling writing made me depressed. None of the characters are likeable. The writing is vulgar. I don't want to read about a pothead trying to come to terms with her cancer diagnosis and her dysfunctional family.
