I expected it to be funnier, especially since there is a quote on the front of the book saying it was the funniest book the author of the Devil Wears Prada had read in years.
Count me a Ken Follet fan. Though not up to the epic standards set by Pillars of the Earth, which was followed with an excellent sequel in World Without End, Eye of the Needle was a very entertaining read. Follet's ability to write fiction in historical settings is fantastic and probably my favorite type of writing. He sets the stage of a German spy in WWII and you find yourself sometimes almost rooting for him at times. This is one that I picked up and couldn't set down. I read it in five days and it probably would have been less if I didn't have to read for school.
