I would recommend this one to anyone who loves books with characters written so well they seem to breathe, walk, and talk. To say this novel is an epic was a bit of an understatement Sparks notes. Complex, compelling and a new favorite- I really wish I knew more adjectives because I absolutely loved it. I wish every book could be this good. Steinbeck is an absolute master. I've read several of his books (The Pearl, Of Mice and Men, The Winter of Our Discontent) and I have to agree that this is his best. I couldn't wait to read it and carted the book around like an appendage hoping to grab a few minutes to read. It was just a damn good book from start to finish. Read it if you haven't and read it again if you have.
very good book for all the girls out there!!!!!!funny as hec!
I have read Persian translation of this book.
I thought this book was excellent. I haven't read The Glass Castle yet, but I think maybe reading this one first gives me a different perspective when I go to read The Glass Castle. What an amazing life, and what interesting times. I can't imagine living in a place without electricity or indoor plumbing. I can't imagine not being able to hop on a bus or a train or a plane and be at my destination shortly. It just puts our lives today and in the Northeast into perspective. This book is set in a very different place and time than what I'm used to.
