bill bryson may not be the greatest artist of prose mankind has ever seen, but heck i hope to someday be able to write like he does funny, insightful, and all these other adjectives that i would list but don't remember because i read this book a long time ago, it couples commentary on the environment with the hysterical hike of two out-of-shape middle aged men. really enjoyable reading

Did not "get" this book in the same way that others did. It was thought provoking but I thought it was overrated.
