This is the book that I recommend when anyone asks "What should I read next?" Roy plays with language to evoke a myriad of feelings... Sometimes the most playful language is in juxtaposition with the most disturbing scenes. It's wonderful and very emotional.

Wow--I completely forgot how much I liked this book! It was definately different. I believe that the author is from Iceland or the Netherlands or some foreign land I've never visited. So, the flow is affected by the translation. However--I couldn't put it down!

You just have to love Toni Morrison's language. So sensual and beautiful, even when it's dark.
