Normally I avoid young adult fiction, especially of the overly mainstreamed variety. However, in this case a friend whose taste in books overlaps with mine recommended it to me. I am so glad she did! This book is outstanding! I could not put it down. The heroine was not immature or full of teen angst as I would have expected. She was a well fleshed out character that I cared deeply about. The cast was not black and white good and bad, but rather, they were complex people with meaningful experiences and histories. I loved this book and can't wait to read the other two in the series.

I have loved every Michael Connelly book I have ever read, and although Harry Bosch will always be my main guy, this book was great.
