Reading this book was a great way to learn about moderate Judaism and Islam, as well as to deepen my own Christian faith. A must-read for those who are interested in exploring common ground between faiths. Witnessing the transformation of the three authors, over the three year course of their regular meetings, was fascinating, and made this reader want to go and do likewise.

Loved it! Story is a about a daughter given up for adoption and her original parents - chapters alternate with the coinciding stories. The daughter is adopted and raised in USA, the parents are in India. She goes to find her parents, stays with her adopted father's relatives.

Strangely enough, I read this book while stranded in an airport, looking for an airline whose booth didn't exist and whose 800 number was disconnected. So the story of Joseph K., arrested without knowing why and convicted by a trial he isn't allowed to attend, has a funny personal resonance for me.

I love this book so much. It is about a girl named Charlotte Doyle, who finds that she is the only passenger of a ship with an angry captain and a crew hungry for revenge. She gets stuck in the middle of a violent and unfair fight between captain and crew. She finally chooses a side and fights for what she believes. This is an amazing book about her transformation while she is on the trip and about democracy, class and race in our world today. I recommend it to middle schoolers.
