Words fail me in reviewing, but I'm really glad they didn't fail Vanessa Diffenbaugh in writing this wonderful book. Books like this really can change the way we think, and having learned about foster children has opened my mind in many ways. Brava.

I just finished the Resort; I've read Little before and appreciated his work, my favorite is The Walking. I don't mind deep and dark but like anything else in writing a fictional work, it must be working with the story, not just a vehicle to move the reader forward. I've seen where Little has used peversion and gore as elements but in The Resort, his use of these elements caused a disruption in the storyline, not enhancement.
