Before reading this book, I had never heard of Fern Michaels. That's probably because I tend to avoid chick lit and books with legs on the cover. I must admit 'Hey, Good Looking' wasn't as cheesy as I expected and I liked it. I must also admit that liking it sort of scares me because I don't want to start dotting my i's with hearts and watching movies about angels that fall to earth. Even though the underlying subject (the death of a close friend) is sad, the overall tone of the book is light and hopeful. At times the characters seem like "Steel Magnolias" rejects, but I cared about them enough to continue the story. File this under guilty pleasures and look for me in the Fern Michaels section.
Very well-written and funny, but I'm a little tired of the woman-finding-man-to-complete-her story.
Hard read but forms the basis for much of the best participatory, learner centered education.
