I enjoyed this book. I got it as a Kindle freebie a while ago. It could use some help with the pacing, as I didn't get really into it until the last third or so. It wasn't the kind of book I needed to stay up all night reading to find out what happens next, but it was a good read and a good change of pace from what I'd been reading.
Anna North has a way with words that comes across beautifully in this novel. She has also created a world so distinct and vibrant that you are transported easily each time you open the pages. The characters can be difficult to connect with, as they are painted using actions, not emotions; however, the complications of discerning "good" and "evil" in the story is an interesting exercise. The ending left me wanting more, arguably a positive outcome, but I didn't find it as satisfying as I'd like to. Overall, a solid read with lots for dystopia fans to love.
Novela "histórica", entretenida y bien narrada. No dudo de su fidelidad histórica, aunque acumular todos los hechos de relevancia en un único personaje... No lo veía desde Papillon.
My review for The Bookbag.
