Interesting short stories set during the World War I period and right after. Most set in areas of France. The ending section deals with the boy Jesus as a child as he grows and experiences life that we read of in the Bible.

I really loved J.R. Ward's departure from the BDB series. It was nice to have things that were a little more based in reality. What I loved was that little tie-in on page 86 where she runs into Phury. (At least I'm pretty sure it's him....) I really liked Jim's character, the hard-ass kind of I make my own fate type character. I loved the side romantic story of Vin and Marie-Terese (Gretchen). And that Devina is one scary creature! Once I got to the last 100 pages I couldn't put it down. I'm a sucker for good vs. evil battles with paranormal characters and a little romance thrown in. The book sets us up for a potential six other books since Jim is slated to save a total of seven souls. I wonder if each book is going to be named for a "seven deadly sin"? Regardless, I can't wait for the next installment!
